28th February/8pm/The Gilchrist Postgraduate Club
For this month only THE VERSE HEARSE will be taking place at THE GILCHRIST POSTGRADUATE CLUB. A different venue, but the same heady cocktail of assorted lyrical entertainments guaranteed (and although it’s at the postgrad club, ALL ARE WELCOME as usual). This month we’ve got two amazing poets lined up for you:
ANDREW PHILIP: Andrew’s first collection, ‘The Ambulance Box’ was published in 2009 by Salt. It follows two successful poetry pamphlets with HappenStance Press: ‘Tonguefire’ (2005) and ‘Andrew Philip: A Sampler’ (2008). His next book with Salt, ‘The North End of the Possible’ will be published later this year.
GRAEME SMITH: Rest-adverse poet and racket maker based in Leith, Graeme runs the fantastic monthly spoken word night CAESURA in Edinburgh and poetry imprint Goodnight Press. Those who have witnessed his thought-provoking and often euphoric performances (conclusory fist raised) know that Graeme’s poetry is not to be missed live.
Followed, as always, by the infamous VERSE HEARSE open mic session. See you all there!
